Google Search Results is experiencing a facelift.

The Google Search Results will have a new facelift in the near future. Right now, when you do a search in the Google map feature, you have the results on the left, while the map is being displayed on the right. Now, the map will be moved to the right side, of the search results.

A Google worker said that they are always looking for new ways to offer results to people and they do their best to connect people with the information they are looking for. This new change is coming to desktop users. When people look for anything in the main Google search, the map will be displayed to the right of the results instead of the map appearing below as it currently happens.

It is known for a fact that Google has been testing this new design for some time now in some parts. This last week there has been a spike in the number of users that have started seeing this news design in the results. Some of the major authorities in the field have also started seeing the new design and asked Google about it. Then the giant of the search results confirmed they were rolling out this new design for the search results.

 

Should that worry you?

If you were having a lot of traffic coming from this type of search results, this might affect you in a certain way, either positive or negative depending on how you are placed. Now the space for results will be smaller and the fight for “search results real estate” will be fiercer.

Some people have said they have experienced some changes in their local search traffic, and as usually happens with Google, there might be changes under the hood that we might ignore so we need to start checking things that might be happening after the rolling out of these changes.

Check your business profile what are the queries you are currently ranking for and verify how are you performing and see if there is a change in the way you are performing with the new design. You can even compare with the results of the old design and verify f there are some differences in the performance.

Nevertheless, the change is here to stay and as always, we need to adapt to it. There is no point in complaining. Is better to spend your energy focusing on what you need to do to improve the performance of your website in the new search results. Keep looking at metrics and find out what you need to do.

 But also, there are two things that you need to consider. The first one is: this change is only happening on desktop users. So that´s just one thing you need to focus on. On the second hand, the map will always be visible on the right, so this can even help people who have a hard time ranking up in the results.
